Before the invasion of Aiur, Tassadar was a respected leader within the Khalai caste. When the Zerg swarm descended upon his homeworld, he realized that traditional Protoss tactics were insufficient against the biological horror. He sought out the exiled Nerazim Dark Templar Zeratul to learn about the true nature of their enemy. Together, they discovered that the Zerg Overmind was being manipulated by a greater cosmic evil.

In Their Own Story

The surface of Char's moon trembled under the weight of the massive Zerg hive structure. Tassadar stood amidst his warriors, the Khaydarin crystals embedded in his armor glowing with blinding violet light. He felt the psychic scream of the Overmind trying to break his mind, but his will remained unshaken. With a final command to Zeratul and Kerrigan to escape, he channeled every ounce of his psionic energy into the crystals.
