StarCraft Codexery — Data & Quality

We publish our audit record because accuracy claims should be checkable. Every entry on this site runs through an automated fact-audit pipeline (accuracy audit → source-grounded repair → visual QA); this page is generated from that pipeline's own report, not written by hand.

This is a fiction/fan codex: entries describe an in-universe canon. Our audits check canon and internal consistency — external fact-checking does not apply the way it does on real-subject codexes.

Recent findings (audit lane, verbatim)

Sarah Kerrigan — Kerrigan was not a Ghost for the Sons of Korhal; she was a Ghost for the Terran Confederacy before defecting.

Sarah Kerrigan — The claim that Kerrigan was named after Nancy Kerrigan as a reference to the feud with Tonya Harding and the Blizzard/Westwood rivalry is a myth; developers have stated the name was chosen simply because they liked it.

Arcturus Mengsk — The entry states that after Kerrigan impaled Mengsk with a psionic spike, Raynor shot him with a pistol before Kerrigan delivered the killing blow. In canon, Raynor shoots Mengsk first, then Kerrigan delivers the final blow by impaling him.

Arcturus Mengsk — The entry says Mengsk abandoned the population of Tarsonis to the Zerg. In canon, the planet's population had largely been evacuated or killed prior to the Zerg invasion, so the claim that he abandoned the entire population is an overstatement.

Jim Raynor — Raynor was born on Mar Sara, not Shiloh; Shiloh is Warfield's homeworld.

Jim Raynor — Raynor's defection occurred during the Tarsonis campaign, and Mengsk declared himself emperor after the fall of Tarsonis, not before.

Zerg Swarm — The Overmind was directly created by the Xel'Naga, not a natural evolution of the Zerg hive mind.

Terran Confederacy — The Confederacy was formed in 2489, but the actual founding date of the Terran Confederacy is 2323 (or approximately that year, as the colonies were unified under the Confederacy after the Guild Wars, which ended in 2489).

Terran Confederacy — The statement that 'Arcturus Mengsk deliberately used Zerg attacks against Confederate cities to justify his own rise to power as Emperor' is inaccurate. Mengsk used the psi-emitter to lure the Zerg to Tarsonis to destroy the Confederacy, not to justify his ri

Xel'Naga — The entry states 'the Xel'Naga directly created them,' which is incorrect; the Xel'Naga uplifted the Protoss but did not directly create them.

Xel'Naga — The claim that the Keystone was created to test evolution on Aiur and Zerus is invented; the Keystone was used to imprison Amon.

Nerazim Exile — The reunion between the Nerazim and Khalai occurred during the events of StarCraft (the original game) and Brood War, not Wings of Liberty.

Nerazim Exile — Shakuras is not perpetually shadowed; it has a day-night cycle and varied environments, so describing it as 'perpetual shadow' is an exaggeration not supported by canon.

Amon — The entry states that Kerrigan became the Primal Queen of Blades after absorbing the Overmind's essence, but in canon she first became Primal on Zerus, then later absorbed the Overmind's essence to gain control of the Swarm.

Amon — The entry says Kerrigan sacrificed herself to destroy Amon's essence in the Void, but in canon she survived the battle and later ascended to become a Xel'Naga, sacrificing her mortal form only after the Void was sealed.
